Think and Act 1.31.19 – Time to Decide What You Believe About Life

Maybe you know what you believe about life. Maybe you believe life starts at conception. Maybe you know professionals can detect a heartbeat at about eight weeks.

Maybe you believe the opposite. Maybe you’ve never considered it. Maybe “unclear” or “foggy” best characterize your beliefs.

Let me encourage you: it’s time to decide. And, it matters.

Let me ask a couple questions:

  1. Do you believe the law should allow ending the life of a baby right before its birth, even after the mother has begun labor and perhaps right before the baby emerges from the womb?
  2. What about a baby who doctors consider unviable, or a baby who survives an abortion attempt? Should they be allowed to live?

I fully realize that the New York abortion bill and a similar one in Virginia pin late term abortions to the health of the mother. I also fully realize that Virginia governor Northam’s remarks regarding letting infants die in some way relate to babies considered unviable.

Back to the question: have you decided what you believe? Should humans have this much control over other humans?

Let me remind you what the word of God says. The Bible clearly shows, in several places, God’s plans for lives inside the womb. Yes, God has plans for life inside the womb. He forms life inside the womb, not starting it magically when birth occurs.

So, no, I’m not going to nitpick the specifics. I think humans can always manipulate the specifics of a law to do what they want. Instead, I’ll challenge you to consider the pattern.

The pattern in these laws involves cheering at removing protections, safeguards, and expanding the amount of time a woman has to end the life inside her. The pattern celebrates the ability to end a life in the third trimester, when everyone knows a C-section can delivery a baby quickly in order to prioritize a mother’s health.

What do you believe? The question inches closer to looming a bit larger than personal conviction or belief. After passing the expanded law in New York (where over 50% of pregnancies end in abortion), Governor Cuomo celebrated New York’s “progressive values”.

And if I disagree these values involve progress?

Time to decide what you believe.

Think. How do you get your information and how does that inform your beliefs?

Act. Never hesitate to speak for life. Ever.
